Here is a dead, hit over the head with a pan, “hello” from our founder and photographer @maansijain. She’s wearing glasses she got at a Texas Walmart, where the sales clerk asked three times if she was sure that she wanted to buy these glasses that “no one over 60 has even bought lately.” She insisted and they went home together happily but now they give her a headache sooometimes. Her shirt is from Amazon.de, found after hours of scouring, but was made in China. The leggings are UNIQLO heat tech, paying homage to the NYU freshman that she once so eagerly was, and the house shoes were a present from a relative.

Meet software designer and art enthusiast Min Jie. She’s from China but lives in Berlin now. We met her once upon a time in the street in Mitte while she was on a break from her gallery job. 

Here she’s wearing: American Apparel nude fishnet tights, second hand leather shoes and coat she found in Berlin, with transparent sunglasses from a souvenir shop in Berlin, an ivory lace bra from Urban Outfitters and a metal choker necklace from & Other Stories.

The sun is still shining and we are musing on a look from German photographer and model Marie-Louise Häfner. Walking around in layers is key to surviving the change of seasons in Berlin. She’s ready for it all in a vintage top from Paris’ free’p’star, a raincoat from Monki and WEEKDAY shorts. Plus, the glittery socks she snagged from her roommate work well with a pair of Converse kicks in white.

Meet Berlin based art director Ansgar Klemm, who is originally from Hanover. A loyal Supreme fanboy he’s rocking a sweatshirt from one of their North Face collabs. He sports historic Nike shorts–they’re nearly as old as a young teen and boast an oil stain from illicit lakeside construction site climbs. To complete this look for us, he walked his Reeboks over to a local Sparkasse and even read a Berliner Akzente under mild duress.

Check out this bright look from talented tattoo artist: Adrian McCavour. He’s wearing a sweater from F as in Frank in Vancouver and a jacket that once belonged to his best friend’s dad’s company. His shorts are a hand-me-down from his own father, who brought them to Canada from Scotland. Meet Anastasia Phillippe, a modern French woman who hails from Rennes and has lived in Paris for the last half decade. An entrepreneur by day, she’s the co-founder of the pop-up shop Soixante-Dix. She’s wearing a jumpsuit she bought at ZARA just before going on a ski holiday. The boots she found from the same store when she needed some fancy footwear for her a gala d’école.

Meet Heather and Bas, who I used to intern for years ago in Berlin. Last year their project Local Smarts won accolades in Germany. Now, they’re moving to LA, where Heather will keep making music and Bas is gonna work in product design. 

Here, Bas is wearing a red robe from GAB in Pankow, an organization fashioned after the GDR to help the unemployed learn skills and create goods, plus a red shirt he made himself and socks he took from Heather. His pants belong to one of their flatmates and have been passed to him because “he’s the only one who cares little enough [about them] to wear them.” Meanwhile, Heather is wearing blue pants and socks made by Bas’ mother with a shirt she found in Pankow.
